The necessity of the solution and political equality.

The Cyprus problem has reached 60 years of life as a bicommunal confrontation, while it has been decisively aggravated since 1974 by Turkey's military, political and population presence in northern Cyprus.

Volt believes that without the harmonisation of relations between the country's two largest communities, the future of the Cypriot people as a whole remains uncertain. Further militarisation, as well as the fluidity of the status quo, could at any time lead to a flare-up as we have recently seen happen in a number of other countries with unresolved political problems.

Political equality must be respected as a fundamental principle of the federal form of the future United Cyprus.

The key to shifting the tide, and reversing the course towards permanent division, is the unconditional commitment to the agreed framework of negotiations, which includes the fundamental principles and basis of the settlement plan as outlined in the UN resolutions and more recently in the Guterres framework.

The solution of the Cyprus problem is a vital necessity, but at the same time it is also a duty to future generations, since it is a matter of survival and continuity, both for the Republic of Cyprus and for each of its citizens individually.

We stand firmly in favour of an intensive negotiation between the political authorities of the two communities, on the basis of the "Guterres Framework" (2017) and within a specific timeframe, in order to reach a comprehensive agreement that satisfies both sides and addresses their concerns.

Çözüm ihtiyacı ve siyasi eşitlik

Kıbrıs sorunu, iki toplumlu bir çatışma olarak 60 yıllık ömrünü tamamlarken, 1974 yılından bu yana Türkiye'nin Kıbrıs'taki askeri, siyasi ve nüfus varlığı nedeniyle ciddi bir yüke maruz kalmıştır.

Volt olarak, ülkenin en büyük iki toplumu arasındaki ilişkiler uyumlaştırılmadıkça, bir bütün olarak Kıbrıs halkının geleceğinin belirsiz kalacağı anlayışındayız.

Çözülmemiş siyasi sorunları olan diğer bazı ülkelerde de gördüğümüz gibi, artan militarizasyon ve statükonun değişkenliği her an bir alevlenmeye yol açabilir.

Kötüleşen siyasi iklimi tersine çevirmenin ve kalıcı bölünmeye giden yolu engellemenin anahtarı, çözüm planının temel ilkelerini ve prensiplerini içeren BM kararlarına ve daha yakın zamanda şekillenen Guterres çerçevesine, hali hazırda üzerinde anlaşmaya varılan yakınlaşmalara ve tüm müzakere müktesebatına koşulsuz ve mutlak bağlılıktır.

Geleceğin Birleşik Kıbrıs'ın federal yapısının temel ilkesi olan siyasi eşitliğe saygı gösterilmelidir.

Kıbrıs sorununun çözümü hayati bir gerekliliktir. Ayni zamanda hem Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti hem de her bir vatandaş için bir beka meselesi olduğundan, Kıbrıs sorununa bir çözüm bulunması gelecek nesillere yönelik bir borçtur.

Her iki tarafı da tatmin edecek, endişelerine cevap verecek kapsamlı bir anlaşmaya varmak için iki toplumun siyasi liderliği arasında "Guterres Çerçevesi" (2017) temelinde ve belirli bir zaman dilimi içerisinde yoğun bir müzakere yapılmasında ısrarcıyız.
