21 March 2025 - Cyprus has been internationally targeted, yet some insist on bad practices!
Volt opposes the proposed law to exempt casinos from restrictions on cash transactions. As Volt MP Alexandra Attalidou correctly highlighted, Cyprus has been internationally targeted for transparency and money laundering issues, and this specific exemption not only worsens our image, but opens up even greater legal and ethical issues.

The position of MOKAS, the Tax Commissioner, the Central Bank, the Capital Market Commission and the Cyprus Bar Association is clear: this proposal poses a risk to the financial integrity of the country. The choice to serve financial interests at the expense of transparency and good governance is unacceptable.
Volt calls on all political powers to support good governance, equality and our European commitment to transparency.
