Alexandra Attalidou's Law Proposal for Zero VAT on Essential Goods
Volt MP Alexandra Attalidou is submitting a proposal to amend the Value Added Tax Law, with the aim of including essential goods in the list of goods subject to a zero VAT rate.

Specifically, it is proposed that the following products be subject to zero VAT:
Baby diapers
Adult diapers
Feminine hygiene products
For a large part of the population these items are absolutely necessary for daily life and for decent living. Their current taxation, either at a standard or reduced rate, disproportionately burdens vulnerable households and intensifies social and economic inequalities.
The proposal is part of a broader social policy framework that seeks to:
Essentially support families
Enhance the dignity of the elderly
Promote gender equality
For Volt, tax justice is a pillar of social cohesion. Exempting these products from VAT is not just an economic convenience, it is a step towards a more just and equal society.
