23 May 2025 - Volt's call to protest against the horrific crimes being committed in Gaza

Volt calls on everyone to join the protest against the ongoing genocide being committed by the state of Israel in Gaza, as well as against its open or silent support by governments, such as that of President Christodoulides.
As Cypriots, we know well what occupation, refugeeism and displacement mean. Our history does not allow us to remain silent in the face of the violation of human rights and International Law.
Today, the greatest crime of the 21st century is being committed before our eyes, a few kilometers from our shores. Neither ideology, nor interests, matter anymore. What matters is that we are human. We join our voices with the global current of reaction.
As Volt, as European citizens, and above all, as humans, we demand an immediate cessation of hostilities and justice.
The crimes taking place in the region are not isolated. As noted in the UN Report (A/HRC/56/26, para. 104), “These crimes must be addressed by combating their root cause: the dismantling of the historically oppressive structures and institutionalised system of discrimination against Palestinians, which lie at the core of the Israeli occupation.”
Our voice matters. Our presence has value.
We will be there. For Justice. For Humanity.
