27 May 2025 - Passports, entanglement and parties. And apparently they care about the credibility of the country

In the morning they boasted on TV about the passport scandal and in the evening they made a fortune from naturalised citizens and passport sales companies.

Admire the immense hypocrisy of the political system that supposedly cares about the country's reputation, but which consciously trampled on every trace of dignity by selling its citizenship to fugitives and wanted criminals, which systematically violated European law in order to enrich a handful of people.

The traditional parties, even those that play outside the system but are deeply systemic, had taken a dip in the honey pot. This at a time when society is paying the consequences of the immoderation and absolute corruption of previous years. Which, thanks to the expensiveness and lack of affordable housing units for the citizens of this land, saw those around them hoarding while they themselves struggle for the necessities.

No matter how much they underestimate our intelligence, no matter how much they despise the need for society to leave behind the Cyprus of corruption, misery and piggybacking, the citizens already know that those who brought us this far do not fit into the vision for the Cyprus of tomorrow. Not even the self-proclaimed saviours who have been part of the system for decades can convince anyone that they have aces up their sleeves.

With clean hands and heads held high, a volunteer movement is growing and demanding the obvious. At Volt, we invite citizens to join us in the struggle between the old and the new. In the struggle to build the Cyprus we deserve, a welcoming and safe country for all of us, a modern, green and reunited Cyprus.
