Andromachi Sophocleous is a graduate of Political Science and Theory from University College London, having also spent one year at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. She completed her Masters' degree in History of Political Thought and Intellectual History at University College London and Queen Mary University. During her university years, she had the privilege of being taught by some of the world's leading scholars in the History of Political Thought.
In recent years, she has worked as a political analyst and consultant on issues related to both the domestic and international political landscape. In December 2023, she became a founding member of Volt and has served as co-president of the party since December 2024.
Volt marks her first involvement in party politics, following years of active engagement in civil society and participation in volunteer movements advocating for reunification, the protection of human rights, and the environment. Volt emerged at a time when Andromachi felt suffocated by the state of the country and its trajectory - the lack of prospects and the declining standard of living for citizens, caused in part by a state that had ceased to function effectively and had been eroded by corruption. At that point, she felt compelled to step forward and fight to become part of an effective oversight mechanism in Parliament - to work towards a modern, European, reunified, and more humane Cyprus, and a state that finally functions properly.
She is also co-producer of the political podcast Nicosia Uncut on the Island Talks platform, the first trilingual podcast platform in Cyprus. Throughout her years of activism, she has been guided by her belief in the possibility of change and the hope that is born through working towards it.
