Ioannis Tirkides has served as Director of Economic Research at the Bank of Cyprus. He has also been President of the Cyprus Economic Research Association since 2019. He has had a long career in the domestic banking sector, where he has held research and management positions in economic analysis, planning, stock analysis, investment management and investment strategy.
He has taught at private universities in Cyprus and was a contributor to the Economist Intelligence Unit on the Cypriot economy. He has published as an author and co-author in various books and edited volumes in Cyprus and abroad. He writes regularly and publishes in the Cyprus Economic Society Blog and in the local press. He studied economics at the University of Toronto and the University of Alberta in Canada.
