16 April 2025 - Migration management is not achieved with populism, but with a plan

The Audit Office report published on 8 April 2025 to assess the management of migration in the Republic of Cyprus shows that the procedures for examining asylum applications are significantly delayed, with an average duration of examination exceeding 20 months, placing an even greater burden on the state budget. Realistic solutions are urgently needed, such as accelerating procedures, improving the interoperability of information systems and reducing bureaucracy.

15 April 2025 - Landmark decision to suspend work at the port of Pentakomos

The decision of the Administrative Court to suspend work at the port of Pentakomos, following an appeal by environmental organisations, is an unprecedented and positive development. The Pentakomos area, where the endangered Mediterranean monk seal relies on the vital habitat for survival, is being irreparably destroyed for the construction of a port for the purposes of servicing fish farming.

14 April 2025 - The Israeli government violated the cease fire. Europe needs to acknowledge Israel’s responsibility to bring forth true peace in Gaza.

The Palestinians in Gaza are “trapped, bombed and starved” according to a statement signed by 7 UN Organisations. Since early March, no trade or humanitarian aid has entered Gaza. In just the last week, more than 1000 children have been killed or wounded, the highest number of child deaths in a week during this year.
