The recent meeting of the President of the Republic of Cyprus with AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) – a lobby that finances political campaigns supporting pro-Israel policies in Congress and the executive arm of the USA, while at the same time openly opposing the International Criminal Court (ICC) – undermines our long tradition as a country that respects international law.

7 April 2025 - We plant for Peace!

This past Saturday, Volt participated in a highly significant environmental initiative, planting thyme in the shape of the international symbol of peace. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia and individuals from both communities, sending a powerful message about the value of peace, coexistence, and cooperation at all levels.

4 April 2025 - Response to the U.S. Trade War with Strategic Autonomy and Sustainability

The U.S. trade war confirms that the EU must invest in its future and autonomy. The U.S. government is shifting towards protectionism, making unilateral decisions that disrupt global economic stability. From tariffs on steel and aluminum, to yesterday’s arbitrary imposition of duties across multiple sectors, and even pressure on Denmark over Greenland, this policy has created uncertainty and puts Europe itself at risk of recession.

The situation yesterday was being observed with concern, highlighting two serious problems: on the one hand, the inability or unwillingness of the police to effectively manage a gathering with existing means, and on the other, the problematic reaction of the government, which chooses communication management instead of effectively addressing the problem.

It was not just a misstep; it was a chain of decisions that led to the secondary victimization of a woman who had already suffered violence.
