12 February 2025 - Volt's protective shield for people with disabilities and the elderly

Volt, with the bill submitted by its MP, Ms. Alexandra Attalidou, together with Mr. Giorgos Koukoumas, MP of AKEL, is committed to protecting citizens from all forms of discrimination, including ageism and ableism. The inclusion of these factors in the legislation on hate speech is a matter of social justice and human dignity.

13 February 2025 - Energy for all, not for the few!

Volt insists that Cyprus' energy policy needs an immediate overhaul. The continued approval of huge photovoltaic parks, such as the ones planned in the areas of Kataliontas, Lythrodontas and Mathiatis, without a comprehensive and clear strategy that includes the energy self-sufficiency of citizens, is a wrong approach that must be changed.

12 February 2025 - The criminalization of assembly and protest is unacceptable

In recent days, individuals who participated in the 19 January 2025 protest over the murder of Shoaib Khan were summoned by the Cyprus Police to appear at a police station, where they were charged. The fact that after a peaceful march we had three arrests and six people charged for alleged insult and disturbance of the peace can only be perceived as intimidation.

The revelation that for over a decade, the Cypriot authorities have not taken the necessary steps to inform and protect citizens is a serious negligence that cannot be ignored.

The purpose of this bill is to protect the rights of guarantors when the loans they guaranteed are sold by credit institutions to credit acquisition companies.

Volt fully supports the opening of as many checkpoints as possible in Cyprus. Every new checkpoint that is opened is a hole in the wall of division and a step towards the unity of our island. The policy that opposes the opening of checkpoints is destructive, perpetuates division, contributes to the creation of borders on the island and is in complete contradiction with the recommendations of the United Nations Secretary-General, as well as with the real interests of the Cypriot people.
